Sandstone is rapidly becoming the paint of choice by award-winning New Zealand architects. The finely grained flat finish gives a subtle and attractive colour variation with no streaking. Sandstone’s texture is smooth but tactile, or fine sand may be added for a grainier result. It can be applied by roller or brushing in a random pattern to create your own individual look. Or try random lapping, colour washing – or a variety of application techniques.
When used in conjunction with Hi-Build Watreproofer, Sandstone is waterproof!

Suitability

Sandstone is suitable for exterior and interior application. This amazingly versatile long-lasting paint is suitable for almost any prepared surface including walls, ceilings, plaster, gib-board, woodwork, glazed bricks or tiles, metal and surfaces prone to movement due to moisture or temperature changes.

Preparation

Ensure the surface is clean and sound. Where required, apply two coats of Fresco Hi-Build Waterproofer to take care of hairline cracking and to waterproof masonry surfaces. The Hi-Build Waterproofer should be tinted to the same colour of the Sandstone for a great end result.
For interior surfaces, apply one or two coats of Fresco acrylic undercoat tinted to a similar colour.

Application

Sandstone can be used straight from the tin. It is ideal for brushing, spraying or rolling to create different finishes using a range of application techniques. Ensure an even application. We recommend brushing, as the texture shows well in the dried paint.
When applied over the correctly coloured base-coat, only one coat of Sandstone is normally required, although a further coat enhances the depth of finish and is recommended. Paint techniques such as distressing, sponging or liming are usually done before the Sandstone dries. Water cleanup.

Colour

Sandstone is available across the entire Fresco colour range, and can be tinted to match almost any colour. A tint surcharge applies.
