Tuscany is a cement-based paint that combines the patina evocative of Mediterranean textures with excellent weather protection.
Tuscany’s tactile finish can be smooth, or feature the relief of brush-strokes, and is designed to age to reveal colour fading and patination. It gives a high level of protection with superior flexibility, resilience and easy application. Waterproofing can be achieved when used in conjunction with Fresco Hi-Build Waterproofer.

Suitability

Tuscany is suitable for exterior and interior application, and is formulated for direct application to almost any surface including concrete block work, render, brick, stone, stucco and other masonry surfaces.
Tuscany is ideal for applying to old painted surfaces, plaster, gib-board etc when used with primer or sealer. It is not suitable for timber or glazed surfaces, fibrous cement sheeting, metal or surfaces that may move due to moisture or temperature changes (use Fresco Sandstone for these).

Preparation

Ensure the surface to be painted is clean and sound. Dampen unpainted masonry with water before applying Tuscany if undercoats are not being applied.
Apply a pigmented sealer to new gib-board (which should then be undercoated). For surfaces where shrinkage cracks have appeared and waterproofing is required apply twp coats of Fresco Hi-Build Waterproofer by roller.
Poorly bound surfaces such as lime-based paints should have Fresco Sealer applied first.

Application

Tuscany is supplied as a powder. Mix with water and brush on in a random pattern. Two coats.
Water cleanup.

Colour

Tuscany is available across the entire Fresco colour range, and can be tinted to match almost any colour. A tint surcharge applies.

10 – 16 m2 per litre, depending on surface
6 m2 per litre on cement render
5 m2 per kilogram on cement render
7 m2 per kilogram on previously painted, sealed surfaces or gib-board
4-5 m2 per kilogram on bagging
Note that rates vary according to porosity and texture of the surface. Fresco labels carry comprehensive information on mixing and application.
